MS/HS SOCCER TRYOUTS SCHEDULED FOR 3/5-3/6

February 28- Varsity and middle school soccer try-outs will take place on March 5-6 from 3:45-5:00. Head coache Ryan Williams and assistant coach Leah Neas will evaluate each player. Interested athletes should be at Sharp Springs Park (Jefferson Pike entrance) at 3:45 on Monday with a soccer ball, shin guards, and a water bottle. SEVEN LCA PLAYERS NAMED TO TVAC ALL-STAR TEAMS

February 25- Seven Lancaster varsity basketball players have been named All-TVAC and will represent the North Stars in the TVAC all-star game. On the boys' side, Brandon Lancaster, Gabe Brewer, and Caleb Ingram were named All-TVAC. All-conference players on the girls' team are Leticia Torres, M.J. Alexander, Asleigh Gyalog and Sarah Musselwhite. The games will be held at Currey Ingram Academy on Tuesday, February 27 at 6:00. Come out and support our stars and celebrate their outstanding seasons!

LADY KNIGHTS FALL JUST SHORT IN TVAC CHAMPIONSHIP

February 25- Freshman Ashleigh Gyalog's 30 points were not enough to lift LCA over Aaron Academy in the TVAC championship Saturday night. The Lady Knights fell to the Lady Royals by a score of 41-33 in front of a packed gymnasium in Franklin. Gyalog led the tournament in scoring with an impressive average of 25.7 ppg. Senior Leticia Torres added six points in the loss. The Lady Knights finished their season with a record of 3-17. "We're extremely proud of the dramatic turnaround our girls made the last month of the season," commented Coach Chirch. "The future is extremely bright for girls' basketball at Lancaster."

KNIGHTS END SEASON WITH BIG WIN OVER FCA, 66-35

February 25- The LCA varsity boys' basketball team capped off an outstanding season with a third place finish in the TVAC, thrashing Franklin Christian 66-35. The Knights ended the season at 17-8, a drastic improvement over last season's 5-19 mark. Freshman Gabe Brewer scored 30 points in the victory, draining four three-pointers. Brewer ended the season with a scoring average of 20 ppg. Ian Knight added 7 points. "I was glad our seniors went out on such a positive note," said Coach Chirch. "We took a huge step forward this year and think we have a great team coming back for next season."

LADY KNIGHTS MOVE INTO TITLE GAME WITH WIN

February 24- Continuing an improbable run following an 0-16 season start, the Lady Knights varsity basketball team moved within one win of a conference title on Friday evening. LCA defeated White House Christian Academy 28-22 in front of a raucous crowd at Old Battleground Academy. Freshman Ashleigh Gyalog led the Lady Knights with 22 points. LCA began the season 0-16, only to win three straight games to move them into Saturday's championship against Aaron Academy. The Lady Royals defeated LCA by 11 points just one week ago. Tonight's game will begin at 6:00 and is being held at Old Battleground Academy (120 Everbright St, Franklin). The teams will leave from LCA at 3:00, and limited fan transportation is available for $4.00, first come first served. Come out and support your Lady Knights!

KNIGHTS FALL SHORT VS. CCHS, PLAY FOR 3RD IN TVAC

February 24- LCA could not overcome the hot shooting of Christian Community on Friday, falling to CCHS 83-59 in the TVAC semi-finals. Sophomore Caleb Ingram had a record-setting performance in the loss, tallying 19 points and grabbing a school-record 31 rebounds. Freshman Gabe Brewer added 22 points, while senior Brandon Lancaster poured in 13 points. "We lost to a very good team, but this doesn't diminish how far our boys have come this year," stated Coach Chirch. "We went from a 5-19 team to a team that had a shot to play for the title and that's remarkable." LCA will now move into the third place game to face Franklin Christian Academy. The Knights defeated the Falcons 60-49 earlier this season. Tonight's game will begin at 5:00 and is being held at Old Battleground Academy (120 Everbright St, Franklin). KNIGHTS ROLL IN TVAC OPENER, SET TO FACE CCHS

February 20- The varsity basketball team opened the TVAC tournament in impressive fashion on Tuesday, knocking off host Currey Ingram 74-51. Freshman Gabe Brewer led the Knights with 24 points in the win, their twelfth victory in a row. Alex Warnatzch, freshman, scored a career high 10 points. Brandon Lancaster, Caleb Ingram, Cody Guynn, and Nick Johnson all added 8 points a piece. LCA now moves on to face Christian Community High School in Friday night's semi-finals, after the Colts knocked off Aaron Academy by 22 points. CCHS narrowly defeated the Knights 46-44 on January 18 at Hooptown. "Christian Community is a great team and we look forward to the challenge of playing them for the right to advance to the championship round," stated Coach Chirch.

GYALOG, LADY KNIGHTS TOO MUCH FOR FCA

February 20- Freshman Ashleigh Gylaog poured in 25 points to lead the varsity girls' basketball team to a 35-17 win over Franklin Christian Academy in the TVAC tourney opener. The Lady Knights raced out to a 15-3 halftime lead and never looked back, avenging January's 3-point loss to the Lady Falcons. Senior Leticia Torres added 4 points in the victory, LCA's second straight win. LCA will now face White House Christian Academy in Friday's semi-finals. WHCA defeated host Currey Ingram 58-21 in the opening game. In two meetings this season, the Lady Eagles have defeated Lancaster. KNIGHTS PREPARE FOR TVAC TOURNAMENT ACTION

February 17- The varsity basketball teams will begin TVAC tournament play this Tuesday night at Currey Ingram Academy. The Lady Knights will take on Franklin Christian Academy at 6:30, with the boys playing the host Mustangs at 7:30. Admission for the tournament is $5.00. LCA's girls lost to the Lady Falcons by 3 points early in the season and hope to avenge that loss. The boys' team has defeated Currey Ingram twice this season. "We hope that our students and parents will make the trip to Currey Ingram to watch us in the tournament," stated Coach Chirch. "The girls have improved tremendously and our boys are on a fantastic winning streak. We are a fun program to watch right now." KNIGHTS MARCH ON, BEAT GENERAL ASSEMBLY 66-19

February 17- LCA's varsity boys' basketball team extended its record winning streak to 11 games on Friday, thrashing General Assembly 66-19 in Hohenwald. Freshman Gabe Brewer scored 22 points in limited action for the Knights. Cody Guynn added 12 points in the victory. "At this point we're glad to get another win, but entering the conference tournament every team is 0-0," stated Coach Chirch. "Our goal now is to put ourselves in position to compete for the conference championship next Saturday night." LCA will square off with Currey Ingram in first round TVAC action on Tuesday. The Knights previously defeated the Mustangs 55-52 and 69-53 in conference play. The winner will play the Christian Community/Aaron Academy in the TVAC semifinals.

GIRLS DEFEAT GENERAL ASSEMBLY, PICK UP FIRST WIN

February 17- The varsity girls' basketball team picked up their first win of the season on Friday, upending General Assembly 31-9 in Hohenwald. Freshman Ashleigh Gyalog led the way with 14 first half points to lead the Lady Knights. Gyalog is averaging 13 ppg. Summer Austin added five points and Leticia Torres scored 4 in the victory. The girls will now face Franklin Christian Academy in the first round of the TVAC tourney. The Lady Falcons beat LCA 23-20 last month at Hooptown. The game will be held at Currey Ingram Academy on Tuesday at 6:30. The winner will advance to the semifinals on either Thursday or Friday.

WINNING STREAK REACHES 10, LCA BEATS AARON ACAD.

February 15- On LCA's "Senior Night," eighth grader Ian Knight stole the show and scored 20 points in a 60-39 rout of Aaron Academy. This marks the second straight game in which Knight has topped 20 points. Following Senior Night festivities (honoring Brandon Lancaster, Shane Morgan, Leif Bennett, Leticia Torres, and Brittney Layton), LCA came out flat, leading the Royals by a narrow 6-point margin at the half. The Knights heated up in the second half, however, and ran away with the victory. Gabe Brewer and Lancaster scored 13 points a piece, and sophomore Caleb Ingram added 11 points and grabbed 18 rebounds. In the girls' game, the Lady Knights battled the TVAC-leading Lady Royals in a 10-point loss. Freshman Ashleigh Gyalog led LCA with 15 points and Torres added 6 points. The varsity teams will travel to General Assembly for games on Friday, before opening the TVAC tourney next Tuesday @ Currey Ingram.

KNIGHTS AVENGE '06 LOSS, BEAT FRANKLIN CLASSICAL

February 13- A year after losing to Franklin Classical School by 47 points, the varsity basketball team beat the Green Knights on Tuesday by a score of 70-66. The win was the LCA's ninth straight victory. "This is a very big win for us, especially heading into the conference tournament," said Coach Chirch. "We are hitting our stride at just the right time." After falling behind 18-2 early, the Knights forged a comeback behind the hot shooting of Ian Knight. The eighth grader scored a career high 23 points to lead LCA. Freshman Gabe Brewer added 22 points, and Caleb Ingram posted his sixth straight double-double, pouring in 11 points and grabbing 17 rebounds. This victory moves the Knights to 13-7 on the season. In the girls game, the Lady Knights were defeated 40-10. Freshman Ashleigh Gyalog scored 10 points in the loss. Both teams will host Aaron Academy on Thursday for senior night.

KNIGHTS CLAW PAST WHCA IN OT, WIN 8TH STRAIGHT

February 10- For the second time in a week, LCA battled White House Christian Academy to the wire, upending the Eagles 70-62 in White House. "Despite being down 12 points and in major foul trouble, our guys never gave up," stated Coach Chirch. "White House played extremely hard and we are fortunate to pick up a big road win." Freshman Gabe Brewer had another big night against the Eagles, scoring a school record 34 points in the win. The freshman sat the majority of the 2nd and 3rd quarters in foul trouble, making his scoring outburst that much more impressive. Caleb Ingram pulled down 21 rebounds and added 10 points for the Knights. The Lady Knights could not handle the pressure put on by WHCA, losing 39-17. KNIGHTS SHOOT DOWN PCA, NAIL 7 THREES IN VICTORY

February 10- The middle school boys had something to prove against Providence Christian Academy in the GNAC tourney, just a week after losing to the Lions in overtime. Powered by a 20-1 run in the third quarter, the Knights claimed 5th place in the tourney with a 45-23 victory. Eight graders Ian Knight, Antonio Massi, and Devon Lancaster combined for 29 points and were 7-9 from behind the arc. Nathan Peterson added eight points and 8 rebounds in the win. Currently, the Knights' record stands at 14-9 on the season. This marks the second straight season in which the Knights' have claimed 5th place in the 16-team GNAC tournament.

MS GIRLS PICK UP 1ST VICTORY, WIN IN GNAC TOURNEY

February 10- After starting the season at 0-6, including a hearbreaking loss to United Christian, the middle school girls' picked up their first win of the season---in the GNAC tourney. The Lady Knights' smothered the host Montessori Academy Mavericks with strong pressure defense, staking themselves to a 16-0 halftime lead. LCA eventually went on to defeat Montessori by a score of 28-8. Eighth grader Brianna Bromley led the Lady Knights with 14 points, and all six players scored at least once in the game. The win concluded the season for the middle school girls.

KNIGHTS SHAKE OFF SLOW START, CRUISE PAST RCA

February 7- Despite a slow start in Fayetteville, the Knights heated up to beat Riverside Christian 68-34 on Tuesday. "This is an up-and-coming program and they played us very hard, particularly in the first half," commented Coach Chirch. The Knights led by 16 at the break, but held only a single digit margin throughout most of the first two quarters. Freshman Gabe Brewer led all scorers with 24 points, knocking down 4 three pointers. Brandon Lancaster and Caleb Ingram combined to add 24 points. In the girls' game, foul trouble and poor free throw shooting resulted in a 43-30 loss. M.J. Alexander led the Lady Knights with 6 points. LCA will travel this Saturday to face White House.

KNIGHTS PUSH STREAK TO SIX, BEAT BENTON HALL

February 5- Caleb Ingram led the varsity basketball team to a 72-22 win over Benton Hall on Monday, extending the Knights' winning streak to six games. Ingram, a sophomore, scored 23 points and grabbed 21 rebounds in limited action for LCA. Senior Brandon Lancaster added 11 points and freshman Gabe Brewer scored 10 points in the victory. "We didn't play our best basketball, but we continue to get the job done," said Coach Chirch. "Hopefully, these games are preparing us for the conference tourney in a few weeks." The Knights will travel to Riverside Christian in Fayetteville tonight and will square off with White House this Saturday.

KNIGHTS HANG ON AGAINST WHCA, WIN HOMECOMING

February 3- Despite seeing a 12-point lead dwindle to 2 in the fourth quarter, LCA's varsity boys' held on to beat White House Christian 58-56 at Saturday's homecoming. Freshman Gabe Brewer continued his recent scoring tear, leading the Knights' with 28 points in spite of early foul trouble. "Both Gabe and Brandon (Lancaster) got in early foul trouble, and we had guys like Ian Knight and Mitchell Mabry step up and really carry us through that stretch," commented Coach Chirch. Knight added 10 2nd quarter points for LCA. The varsity boys' improved to 9-7 on the season. The varsity girls battled White House Christian, but came up on the short end of a 37-12 decision. The middle school boys overcame early shooting woes to upend United Christian Academy by 18 points. The middle school girls lost a heartbreaker to the Lady Patriots, 14-11 in overtime. The varsity teams will play Riverside Christian on Tuesday, while the middle school boys will open the GNAC tourney at Sumner on Tuesday.

BREWER SCORES 30, LEADS KNIGHTS PAST FALCONS

January 30- A year after losing to Franklin Christian Academy by 35 and 24 points respectively, the LCA varsity boys' team earned a measure of revenge on Tuesday, upending the Falcons 60-49 at Hooptown. "This was a game that we were looking forward to all offseason," stated Coach Chirch. "They beat us pretty solidly last year and our guys were ready for another chance at them." The victory moved LCA to 8-7, putting the Knights over the .500 mark for the first time in school history. Freshman Gabe Brewer produced his third 30-point output of the season, upping his season average to 17.8 ppg. Senior Brandon Lancaster chipped in 9 points while adding 9 rebounds and 6 steals. Sophomore Mitchell Mabry came off the bench to score eight big points that catapulted the Knights into the lead for good. LCA will host White House Christian Academy on Saturday as the school celebrates Homecoming.

KNIGHTS MOVE TO .500 WITH WIN OVER BENTON HALL

January 29- The varsity boys' basketball team moved back to the .500 mark on Monday, defeating Benton Hall 62-14. "This was a great opportunity for us to work on some things and to get our bench some minutes," commented Coach Chirch. "This was a good team win." Sophomore Cody Guynn scored 18 first half-points in the victory to lead the Knights. The victory improved LCA's record to 7-7 overall and 3-4 in the TVAC. The Knights' raced out to a 29-2 lead over the Badgers and never looked back. Gabe Brewer added nine points in limited action. LCA will travel to Benton Hall next Monday for a TVAC rematch.

KNIGHTS THROTTLE RIVERSIDE, INGRAM COMES UP BIG

January 26- Caleb Ingram scored a season-high 21 points and added 15 rebounds in a 70-27 victory over Riverside Christian Academy on Friday. Freshman Gabe Brewer continued his hot shooting and added 18 for the Knights. LCA jumped out to a 27-5 first quarter lead and never looked back, leading by as many as 37 points. "We are starting to come together and play extremely well, especially on the defensive side of the ball," stated Coach Chirch. "If we can continue to put up the scoring we have as of late, we should finish very strongly this season." In the girls' game, the winless Lady Knights held a three-point halftime lead, but could not hold on in dropping a 28-18 decision. The girls will have another shot at Riverside on Feb. 6.

BREWER TORCHES CURREY INGRAM, SCORES 31 IN WIN

January 24- Freshman Gabe Brewer knocked down a school-record 7 three-pointers and scored 31 points in a 69-53 at Currey Ingram on Tuesday. LCA hit 10 three-pointers on the evening. Cody Guynn---a last minute insertion into the lineup---scored 15 points, grabbed 8 rebounds, and dished out 5 assists. Senior Brandon Lancaster added 11 points in the victory. The middle school boys rolled over the Mustangs 49-12 in their game, improving to 10-6 on the year. Antonio Massi and Ian Knight both scored 16 points in leading the Knights to the win. The middle school and varsity girls lost tough games to CIA, but M.J. Alexander was a bright spot, scoring a season-high 6 points in the loss. The Knights' will host Riverside Christian this Friday.

LCA DROPS HEARTBREAKER TO COMMUNITY CHRISTIAN

January 18- The Knights went toe-to-toe with undefeated Community Christian at Hooptown on Thursday, dropping a heartbreaking 46-44 final. After taking a 5 point lead into the 4th quarter, the Knights could not overcome a 12-0 Colts advantage from the free throw line in the final frame. "We couldn't be prouder of the way our guys played tonight," commented Coach Chirch. "We had a chance to knock off the top team in the league on the last play, and you can't ask for more than that." Gabe Brewer led the Knights with 18 points, while Caleb Ingram tied an LCA record with 23 rebounds. The Knights fall to 4-7 and 1-4 in the TVAC. The Lady Knights could not hold off the Lady Colts in the opening game, dropping a 47-8 decision. LCA will travel to Currey Ingram next Tuesday as they look to improve their TVAC standing.

MS BOYS STRUGGLE AT FRANKLIN CLASSICAL SCHOOL

January 18- The Knights' middle school boys' team squandered a 6 point lead at Franklin Classical on Thursday, eventually falling 51-44 in a GNAC contest. "Our helpside defense just wasn't good enough and we let their guards take the game away from us," commented 8th grader Devon Lancaster. Eighth graders Ian Knight and Antonio Massi led the Knights in scoring, pouring in 22 points and 16 points respectively. The loss---the thord straight narrow defeat in GNAC play---drops the Knights to 9-6 on the season.

January 16- The Knights' varsity boys basketball team fell behind early at Holloway, going on to lose to the Hawks 96-40. Eighth grader Ian Knight was a bright spot on the evening, scoring 16 points in limited action. Senior Leif Bennett scored a career high 9 points, while adding 9 rebounds. The varsity girls took a 4-0 lead to start their game, but could not hold on in a 39-7 loss. Senior Leticia Torres led the Lady Knights with 4 points. The boys fell to 4-6 on the season, while the girls remain winless at 0-7.

BREWER'S RECORD NIGHT CANNOT RESCUE KNIGHTS

January 19- Freshman Gabe Brewer set an LCA single-game record with 31 points vs. Mt. Juliet Christian Academy, but the Knights fell to the TSSAA foe by a score of 77-50. Brewer drilled 4 three-pointers in the loss. "This is a very good MJCA team we played tonight with at least two players who will be playing college basketball," stated Coach Chirch. "Gabe played his best game against the best team on our schedule." The varsity girls lost in the preceding game by a score of 48-8. Eighth grader Bethany Thompson did all the scoring for the Lady Knights, scoring 8 points. In the middle school games, the boys fought valiantly in the waning moments of the game before dropping a nail-biter, 37-34. Ian Knight's 16 points led LCA. The middle school girls played their best game of the season, a back-and-forth game that eventually ended in a 32-16 loss.

HOOP GROUP RESCHEDULED FOR HOMECOMING WEEK

January 11- The Hoop Group clinic scheduled for this week has been moved to the week of January 29th-February 2. "The change is date will allow us to let the kids participate in Homecoming festivities, which will be great for our program and the community," commented Coach Chirch. ELEMENTARY GIRLS PLAY FIRST GAME OF 2007 SEASON

January 6- The fourth grade girls' basketball team opened their season in exciting fashion on Saturday, dropping a tight 8-6 game to the Montessori School. It was an extremely competitive game with both teams playing great defense. LCA had a chance to win with 9.8 seconds to go in the game and went for a steal as time ran out. The LCA girls were led in scoring by Keirsten Kucker with 6 points. The girls did a great job working against a 2-3 zone defense, with only one practice of new offensive plays designed for a zone defense. The girls did a great job rebounding and played very physically on defense. All of them gave 100%. The girls' team plays every Saturday at Franklin Road Academy. KNIGHTS CANNOT HOLD OFF CLARKSVILLE ACADEMY

January 4- Freshman Gabe Brewer's 19 points were not enough to propel LCA over Clarksville Academy on Thursday, as the Knights' fell to the Cougars 67-36. The Knights fell behind the TSSAA school early and couldn't recover down the stretch. Sophomore Caleb Ingram grabbed a season-high 13 rebounds in the loss. The varsity boys' are now 3-4 on the season and will host Family Christian Academy on 1/9 at Hooptown. The varsity girls' team fell to Clarksville by a score of 41-8. The Lady Knights were led by senior Leticia Torres' 6 points. The girls will be back in action on 1/13 as they travel to Mt. Juliet Christian Academy.

MS BOYS' SWEEP @ HOOPTOWN HOLIDAY TOURNEY

December 23- For the second straight season, the middle school boys' basketball team went 3-0 at the Hooptown Holiday Tourney. On the first night of the tournament, the Knights defeated the Lavergne Cavaliers in an easy contest, 38-21. Brandon Manning and Tyler Williams led the Knights in the opener. During the second day of the tourney, the Knights' faced the unenviable task of playing two games in one day. The first game of the day pitted LCA against the Murfreesboro Knights, a game which the Knights won going away, 44-18. LCA was led by the scoring of sixth grader Josh Bates. In the final game of the event, LCA picked up its biggest win, defeating AAU team the Nashville Stallions by a score of 41-32. The wins increased the Knights' season record to 6-3. The next middle school games will take place on January 11 at Hooptown, as the Knights will host GNAC-foe Sumner Academy.

KNIGHTS HOLD OFF COUGARS, EVEN RECORD AT 3-3

December 14- The LCA varsity basketball team evened their season record with a tight 49-46 victory over the JV squad of cross town rival Middle Tennessee Christian School. The Knights held off a late comeback attempt by the Cougars, losing a nine point lead but holding on for the victory. The win evened the Knights' season record at 3-3. Freshman Gabe Brewer paced LCA with 17 points. Senior Brandon Lancaster added 13 points and sophomore Corey Whittington scored 10 points in the win. Sophomore Caleb Ingram pulled down a game high 11 rebounds to improve his season rebounding totals to a team-leading 10.2 rpg. The Knights will now head into the break before resuming their season on January 4th against TSSAA foe Clarksville Academy.

FOURTH QUARTER RALLY LIFTS KNIGHTS OVER CIA

December 7- Trailing by 7 points late in the fourth quarter, LCA staged a furious comeback in the final two minutes to stun Currey Ingram Academy by a score of 55-52 on Thursday. Senior Brandon Lancaster led the charge, scoring a career high 19 points and knocking down 2 critical free throws with 7.1 seconds to go in the game. Sophomore Corey Whittington scored 8 fourth quarter points, including the tying and go-ahead free throws. The second leading scorer for the Knights was sophomore Cody Guynn who added a season-high 10 points for LCA. The Knights will travel to David Lipscomb on Saturday to try and even their record at 3-3.

November 9- The second annual LCA Basketball "Hoops Hysteria" will be held this Friday night at Hooptown at 6:00. Reminiscent of the University of Kentucky's "Midnight Madness," the night will give LCA fans the first opportunity to see the Knights in action this season. The night will begin with a white vs. blue varsity girls scrimmage, the first game in the history of the girls' program. The middle school boys' will then play a team of coaches and parents, and finally, the coaches' team will take on the varsity boys' team. Food, giveaways, music, and performances by the cheerleaders will also highlight the night. Tickets are $2.00 for students and $4.00 for adults.

MORGAN LEADS KNIGHTS TO TVAC CC CHAMPIONSHIP

October 21- The LCA varsity cross country team won the TVAC championship in dominating fashion on Saturday, sweeping the top five spots. Senior Shane Morgan won his first race of the year and was named conference champion and All-TVAC. Teammates Nick Dwyer and Kevin Dobson finished second and third, respectively, and were also named All-TVAC. Sophomore Cody Guynn and eighth grader Ian Knight rounded out the scoring for the Knights. The championship was the second conference title in LCA history and the first this year.

MS CROSS COUNTRY FALLS JUST SHORT OF GNAC TITLE

October 21- The LCA middle school boys' cross country team fell four points short of defending their GNAC title on Saturday. The Knights finished just behind rival Providence Christian Academy, taking second place. Eighth graders Ian Knight and Devon Lancaster were named all-GNAC for their second and fifth place finishes. In the girls' race, LCA finished third of five team. Brianna Bromley, an eighth grader, earned all-GNAC honors for the second consecutive year. Bromley finished second in the race.

LADY KNIGHTS BATTLE PCA BUT FALL IN TVAC TOURNEY

October 21- Despite winning the first set before a vocal crowd, the Lady Knights volleyball team could not overcome Providence Christian Academy in the TVAC volleyball tourney. The four set loss ends LCA's inaugural season with a record of 9-4. Behind the serving of junior Jessica Crone, the Lady Knights battled to defeat the Lions in set one. LCA, however, could not hold the lead in the 2nd or 4th sets and were eliminated from tournament play. LCA finished in second place in the regular season. Girls interested in taking lessons at Impact Volleyball or participating in spring leagues should talk to Coach Young. Congratulations to the girls on an excellent first season!

LADY KNIGHTS EXTEND WINNING STREAK TO 8, BEAT FCS

October 12- The Lady Knights volleyball team escaped with a narrow five-set victory over Franklin Classical School on Tuesday. The win runs the Lady Knights inaugural record to 8-0, with their final conference game coming against defending champion Currey Ingram tonight. The Lady Knights jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but FCS clawed back into the match, winning back-to-back sets. Behind the serving of junior Lauren Ritchie, however, LCA was able to hold off FCS to clinch another win. Conference tournnament pool play begins next Thursday at Currey Ingram, with the conference tourney being held on Oct. 21.

KNIGHT FINISHES 3RD AT RUTH. CO. CHAMPIONSHIPS

October 12- Eighth grader Ian Knight used a strong kick down the stretch to propel him to a third place finish in the Rutherford County Middle School CC Championships on Tuesday. Last season, Knight finished tenth in the race. Eight grader Devon Lancaster finished thirty-first in the field of 178 runners. The boys team placed seventh of twelve teams overall. Brianna Bromley paced the girls team with a thirty-fourth place finish, and the girls finished eighth of eleven teams. The Knights will travel to Currey Ingram on October 21st to defend their GNAC titles.

BOYS' BASKETBALL TRY-OUTS SCHEDULED FOR OCT. 9

September 28- The Lancaster boys' basketball program will hold try-outs for middle school and high school boys on Monday, October 9th. Try-outs are tentatively scheduled to be held at First Baptist Church from 3:45-5:30. Boys in grades 6-12 are invited to attend try-outs. Home schooled students are welcome to try out. Official practice will begin Wednesday, October 11 from 4:00-5:30 after school at LCA. More information concerning practice schedules, games, and team fees will be passed out after try-outs.

LADY KNIGHTS DEFEAT HHS/FCS, UP RECORD TO 7-0

September 28- The Lady Knights' volleyball team continued their unbelievable winning streak on Thursday, improving to 7-0 with wins over Holloway High School and Franklin Classical School. In the opening match, LCA swept past an improved Holloway squad in straight sets, 25-19 and 25-23. The Lady Knights then battled Franklin Classical, pulling out a hard-fought victory in three sets (25-13, 19-25, 15-10). LCA grabbed an early lead in the third set behind the serving of junior Jessica Crone, and the Lady Knights never looked back. LCA will resume TVAC play at Franklin Classical following next week's fall break.

VARSITY CC WINS AGAIN, MS TEAMS 2ND @ WHCA

September 27- The Lancaster cross country team extended their TVAC undefeated streak to six meets, sweeping teams from Currey Ingram and White House Christian on Tuesday. Senior Brandon Lancaster finished first with a personal best time of 18:55. Kevin Dobson, a sophomore, finished second, with senior Shane Morgan placing third. Both middle school teams placed second, with the boys' team narrowly falling to Sumner Academy by 8 points. Eighth grader Ian Knight won his second straight meet, with classmate Devon Lancaster finishing 4th. Eighth grader Brianna Bromley posted her third straight 2nd place finish to pace the girls' team. The middle school teams will compete for the GNAC championship on Oct. 21 at Currey Ingram, with the varsity vying for the TVAC crown in Smyrna on October 24.

LADY KNIGHTS BEAT PCA, IMPROVE TO 5-0

September 21- After falling one set behind Providence Christian Academy , the Lady Knights' volleyball team stormed back on Thursday, winning a tight match in four sets. LCA (5-0) trailed PCA (3-2) 18-10 in the fourth set, and a fifth set appeared to be imminent. The Lady Knights, however, put together a furious rally to tie the score at 20-20. Sophomore Jennifer Donahue put together two solid serves to give the match to Lancaster. The Lady Knights will host a tri-match next Thursday against Holloway High and Franklin Classical. LCA defeated both teams three sets to none earlier this month.

2006-2007 KNIGHTS' CHEERLEADING SQUAD SELECTED

September 18- The 2006-2007 Knights' cheerleading teams have been selected, announced the athletic department on Monday. The varsity squad is currently composed of six girls, including: senior Britney Layton (captain), sophomore Jennifer Donahue (captain), freshman Katelyn Winfrey, freshman Brittney Pittman, eighth grader Ashton Weeks, and eighth grader Paige Mortinsen. Coach Cyndi Headrick is expected to add 2-4 more girls to the varsity squad prior to the November 14th basketball opener. The junior varsity squad includes: freshmen Rachel Bell, Kari Owen, Bethany Tinsley, and Michelle Monnette; eighth grader Meghan Nall; seventh graders Hannah Weeks (captain), Caroline Nix, Elayna Baggett, Courtnee Guynn, and Jessica Henkle; and sixth graders Tori Greene and Ashley Sanders. LADY KNIGHTS KNOCK OFF '05 CO-CHAMPS, MOVE TO 4-0

September 18- The Lady Knights volleyball team posted the biggest win of their season last Thursday, defeating last season's TVAC co-champs Franklin Classical. LCA got off to a blazing start, winning the first two sets 25-13 and 25-14 against the defending champions, led by the serving of junior Lauren Ritchie. Franklin Classical battled the Lady Knights point for point in the third set before LCA narrowly took the final frame 25-23. The win kept the Lady Knights firmly on top of the TVAC with an undefeated record of 4-0. The next volleyball game will be on the road this Thursday and pits LCA against cross-town rival Providence Christian Academy who currently stands at 1-1 in the TVAC.

VARSITY CC TEAMS IMPROVE TO 2-0 IN TVAC

September 14- Led by five personal best times, the LCA varsity boys' cross country team swept past Currye Ingram on Tuesday, 10-26. Senior Brandon Lancaster finished first with a time of 19:04, outdistancing sophomore Kevin Dobson who finished the 3.0 mile race in 19:13. Senior Shane Morgan rounded out the placing in third with a time of 19:56. The varsity girls' team won for the second straight meet, led by freshman Michelle Monnette's first place finish. The middle school boys' team finished second behind the team from Sumner Academy. The Knights were led by the third place finish of Devon Lancaster. Eight grader Brianna Bromley finished second in the middle school girls' race, but LCA finished fourth overall. The next cross country meet will be September 26th in White House.

September 7- The Lady Knights volleyball team remained undefeated on Thursday, downing rival Holloway High in straight sets. LCA is now 3-0 in their inaugural season and will face 2005 TVAC co-champ Franklin Classical next Thursday. Despite falling behind early in the first set, the Lady Knights stormed back to win behind the strong service play of Meghan Nall. LCA put away the final two sets in convincing fashion, led by the play of sophomore Jennifer Donahue, eighth grader Amberlin Artz, and senior Leticia Torres. The Lady Knights currently sit atop the TVAC standings, with eight matches left to play for the conference tourney.

August 31- The Lady Knights volleyball team improved to 2-0 on Thursday, decisively beating Franklin Christian Academy 25-10, 25-17, and 25-16. The win keeps LCA on top of the TVAC. The Lady Knights were led by the serving of junior Jessica Crone, and eighth grader Meghan Nall was impressive in recording several aces. VARSITY CC TEAMS WIN OPENING MEET @ CIA

August 29- After frustrating second place finishes in the middle school race, eighth graders Ian Knight and Brianna Bromley came through with gutsy first place finishes in the varsity race to lead LCA to victory over Currey Ingram on Tuesday. Knight held off freshman Nick Dwyer and seniors Brandon Lancaster and Shane Morgan for first place. Lancaster and Morgan led the race until going off course halfway into the race and were unable to recover. Knight faced a similar fate in the middle school race against teams from Currey Ingram, Providence Christian, and Sumner Academy. Well in front and on pace to set a personal best, Knight and teammate Devon Lancaster went off course and could not reclaim the top two spots. Bromley ran well in the girls' race, but could not hold off PCA's Julie Blattenberger for first place. The Knights' will host their next meet on September 12th.

August 27- LCA cheerleading try-outs will be held next Wednesday, September 6 and Friday, September 8 from 2:30-5:30 in the school cafeteria. Girls in grades 7-12 are encouraged to come out for the team. "We plan to possibly have a middle school and a varsity team this season," commented Derek Chirch, AD. New head coach Cyndi Headrick will lead the try-out session. Girls who make the team will begin to practice next week. KNIGHT, LANCASTER LEAD CC TEAM @ SMYRNA 5K

August 27- For the second straight year, Ian Knight took home first place honors in the 13 and under division at the Rutherford County HS Challenge, held at Sharp Springs Park. His time of 20:30 in the 3.2 mile race was more than two minutes faster than the next finisher in that age group. Senior Brandon Lancaster posted the best LCA time of the day, finishing the race in 20:28, good for 20th place overall. Sixth grader Shelby Nelson placed third in the under 13 girls' division, and eighth grader Devon Lancaster was fourth in the under-13 boys' division. The Knights' will travel to Currey Ingram on Tuesday to open up the GNAC/TVAC seasons.

CC TEAM SET TO KICK OFF SEASON THIS SATURDAY

August 25- The cross country teams will be competing in this Saturday's Rutherford County High School Challenge race at Sharp Springs Park to launch the 2006-2007 season. The 5k race will be held at 7:30 a.m. and will feature more than 10 different age groups and 15+ teams. Eighth grader Ian Knight will look to defend his 13 and under title while also running as a member of the high school team. Seniors Shane Morgan and Brandon Lancaster finished in the top forty last year and hope to lead the varsity team to a strong finish among several public school teams in the field.

August 24- The volleyball team defeated Christian Community High School in their season opener, three sets to two. The Knights dropped the opening set 22-25, but rebounded to win the second set 25-22 behind the serving of junior Jessica Crone. The visiting Colts dominated the third set 25-14, putting LCA in need of winning two straight sets. Senior Leticia Torres sophomores Amanda Braunwalder and Jennifer Donahue powered a 25-12 trouncing in set four, setting up the pivotal fifth set. Junior Lauren Ritchie tallied the first eight points on serve in the final frame, resulting in a 15-7 LCA advantage and a Knight victory. LCA travels to Franklin Christian next Thursday in their first road game of the season.

July 9- Lancaster Christian Academy will host a non-contact football skills camp from July 24-28 on the LCA campus. Each day will begin with weight training from 8:00-10:00 a.m. Throughout the week, players will learn skills and techniques, offensive terminology, and the basic framework of the offense to be used in 2007, the inaugural season of Knights' football. July 9- On September 23, the Knight Athletic Department will host the 1st Annual LCA Athletics Golf Scramble at the Smyrna Municipal Golf Course. WHCA TOPS KNIGHTS IN GNAC SOCCER TOURNAMENT

May 9- Playing through a driving rain in a game delayed and shortened, the Knights fell just short of a GNAC tourney victory, losing 2-1 to White House Christian Academy. After falling behind 1-0 just prior to the end of the first half, seventh grader Ian Knight tied the game with a goal on a penalty kick. WHCA slipped a late goal past the Knights to take a 2-1 lead. Knight had one final opportunity to tie the game on a breakway, but could not get his shot past the WHCA goalie. The Knights end their soccer season with a record of 4-4-2.

May 8- Eighth grader Alex Guevara and junior Brandon Lancaster were given the Albert and LaVelle Partlow leadership awards at Monday's athletic banquet. The awards are given to the middle and high school student who demonstrate character, attitude, and leadership, on and off the field of play. Albert and LaVelle Partlow are the parents of LCA's principal, Sherry Lancaster. "Perhaps no one is more responsible for the founding of this school than are the Partlow's," stated athletic director Derek Chirch. "There is not a higher award we can give or a more appropriate two people that this award can be named after."

BRANDON LANCASTER NAMED LCA "MR. BASKETBALL"

May 8- The 2005-2006 LCA basketball awards were highlighted by junior Brandon Lancaster being named Mr. Basketball. "Mr. Basketball is awarded to a player who not only excels statisically, but also is an example of dedication, attitude, and leadership," explained Coach Derek Chirch. "This is the highest award our program offers because it highlights the character of a player." Senior Micah Boerger was named offensive MVP and received All-TVAC honors. Eighth grader Gabe Brewer was named the defensive MVP, was awarded All-TVAC status, and also took home the middle school offensive MVP award. Freshman Cody Guynn and seventh grader Brandon Manning received the Most Improved player awards for high school and middle school. KERPER RECEIVES TOP SOCCER HONORS AT BANQUET

May 8- Fifth grader Cameron Kerper was named soccer MVP and all-GNAC at Monday's awards banquet. Kerper currently leads the soccer team with 10 goals heading into the conference tournament this week. Brandon Lopez, a fellow fifth grader, was also name All-GNAC. Eighth grader Alex Guevara was named Most Improved, and eight grader Jackson Myrick was honorable mention All-GNAC. The soccer team continues their season tonight, taking on White House Christian Academy at the rotary soccer park at 4:30. May 8- Ian Knight was named MVP of the GNAC champion cross country team on Monday at the awards banquet. Knight also received a plaque commemorating his all-GNAC performance. Fellow seventh grader Brianna Bromley received similar honors, being named all-GNAC and team MVP. Nick Dwyer and Kelly Powell also received all-GNAC plaques. The Most Improved middle school runners were awarded to eighth graders Michelle Monette and Tyler Reevs. At the varsity level, junior Brandon Lancaster was named team MVP. DWYERS NAMED "VOLUNTEERS OF THE YEAR"

May 8- Jeff and Michelle Dwyer were named Knight Athletics "Volunteers of the Year" for 2005-2006 at Monday night's award banquet. The Dwyers are the parents of Nick (cross country, soccer) and Zach (soccer), both eighth graders at LCA. The Dwyers were given the award based on the tremendous support they exhibited for the cross country team this season. The Dwyers purchased a tent and banner for the team, created the school's first mascot, and have been major supporters of the new soccer and football programs. "We are extremely thankful for all of the help that the Dwyers have give us this year and I'm proud to be able to present them with this award," commented Derek Chirch, athletic director.

May 8- The first annual Lancaster Christian Academy Athletic Awards banquet was held Monday evening at First Baptist Church in Smyrna. The crowd of over 200 athletes, coaches, parents, and friends gathered for dinner, a highlight DVD, and awards for cross country, cheerleading, basketball, and soccer. "The night was a major success because we were able to put the spotlight on every athlete that competed for us this season," commented Derek Chirch, athletic director. KERPER AND KNIGHT COMBINE FOR 4 GOALS IN WIN

April 27- The LCA middle school soccer team concluded the regular season on Thursday with a 4-1 win at Benton Hall. 5th grader Cameron Kerper and 7th grader Ian Knight both scored two goals in the first half to give the Knights the win. Eighth grader Jackson Myrick picked up his second win in goal, and the Knights improved to 4-3-2 on the season. Kerper now leads the team with 11 goals. Knight is second in goal-scoring with 4 goals. KERPER'S HAT TRICK RALLIES KNIGHTS TO 4-4 TIE

April 25- 5th grader Cameron Kerper's 3 goals ignited an LCA rally from a 3-0 deficit to White House Christian, a game eventually ending in a 4-4 tie. The Eagles took the three-goal advantage just minutes into the first half, leaving the Knights a seemingly-insurmountable deficit to overcome. Kerper tallied one goal before the half, and struck for two goals early in the second half. The Eagles quickly regained the lead on a corner-kick goal. Late in the game, Kerper found 7th grader Ian Knight for the Knights' fourth goal of the game. LCA's record currently stands at 3-3-2 heading into Thursday's regular season finale with Benton Hall. The GNAC tournament begins next week with sites and times to be determined.

KNIGHTS DOMINATE NASHVILLE'S HOOP-IT-UP TOURNEY

April 23- An LCA 3-on-3 basketball team---comprised of Brandon Lancaster, Gabe Brewer, Marcus Haywood, and Cody Guynn---swept through this weekend's Hoop-It-Up tourney at the Nashville Coliseum, taking first in the competive #18 division. The Knights finished 6-0 in the two day tourney. The Knights fell behind 9-4 in the championship game, but forged a furious comeback, capped by Haywood's driving lay-up with 30 seconds to play, resulting in a 14-13 win over the Cashville Ballers. In the younger division, the team of Spencer Artz, Tyler Williams, Jonah Pressley, JD Weiland, and Devon Lancaster finished in 4th place. The older team has now qualified for the national Hoop-It-Up tourney in Orlando, FL.

MYRICK'S SHUTOUT LEADS LCA PAST COLLEGE HEIGHTS

April 18- Eighth grader Jackson Myrick recorded eight saves in a shut-out 2-0 victory over College Heights on Tuesday. The win moves the Knights back to the .500 mark at 3-3-1. Cameron Kerper scored his fifth goal of the season and Brandon Lopez scored his second tally on the year. The Knights will host White House Christian next Tuesday in their final home game of the season. Next Thursday, LCA will travel to Benton Hall for the final regular season game of the season, leading up to the conference tourney beginning May 1st.

AWARD BANQUET SCHEDULED FOR MAY 8 AT FBC

April 17- The first annual Lancaster Christian Academy athletic awards banquet will be held on Monday, May 8th at the First Baptist Church in Smyrna. A catered meal will be served beginning at 6:30, before the awards ceremony begins. Tickets are $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for students, and LCA athletes are free. "Every student who participated in a sport for LCA this season will be honored at the banquet with an award," commented AD Derek Chirch. "We are truly proud of all of our athletes and this is a small way to show our appreciation for all their hard work." Beyond awards for participation, honors will given out to team MVP's, most improved players, parent volunteers, and for mental attitude and leadership. Tickets are available in the school office. A form will be sent home with all athletes in April and forms are due back no later than Monday, May 1.

SPRING PRACTICES BEGIN WEDNESDAY, APRIL 19TH

April 16- Spring practices in cross country and football will begin this Wednesday, April 19th. The basketball and volleyball teams have been training throughout March and will continue on their usual schedules. "We are a very young athletic program, so its imperative that we offer year-round opportunities for our athlete's to continue to learn and improve," stated athletic director Derek Chirch. The boys basketball team will meet on Mondays at First Baptist Church from 3:45-5:30 and on Wednesdays and Fridays at the school from 3:30-5:30 with Coach Chirch and Coach O'Neal. The girls basketball team is scheduled to have an evaluation day this Thursday, April 20, at the school from 3:30-4:30. Further practice information will be forthcoming. The cross country and football teams will practice at the rotary park from 4:00-6:00 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Friday with Coach Greene, Coach Nelson, and Coach Compton. KNIGHTS' BASKETBALL TEAM 1-1 IN HOOPTOWN TOURNEY

April 8- The LCA basketball summer team kicked off their tournament season with a 52-44 victory over the Lincoln County Stars this Saturday. Gabe Brewer led the Knights with 28 points in the victory. Brandon Lancaster posted career highs in points and steals with 18 points and 13 steals. Cody Guynn led the Knights in rebounds, grabbing 9 boards. In the second game, the Knights fell to the Murfreesboro Stars in a rout. Brewer again led the Knights in scoring, tallying 11 points for LCA. "The effort we displayed in the first game just wasn't there in game two," commented Coach Chirch. "The difference between game one and two was night and day. However, we did see a lot of good things today and I am satisfied with the progress we have made thus far in the offseason."

April 4- The LCA middle school soccer team improved to 2-1 on the season with a 1-0 victory over Hendersonville Christian on Tuesday. The Knights took the early lead on 5th grader Cameron Kerper's goal and never relinquished it. The goal was Kerper's second of the season. 5th grader Brandon Lopez had a stellar performance in his first start in goal, shutting out the Crusaders. Lopez had several difficult saves, helping the Knights maintain their narrow margin of victory.

KERPER LEADS SOCCER TEAM TO FIRST WIN, 3-1

March 16- The LCA middle school soccer team won their first game of the season---and the first soccer game in school history---3-1 over GNAC rival Aaron Academy. Fifth grader Cameron Kerper scored two goals to pace the Knights. Seventh grader Ian Knight added a goal for LCA. Goalkeeper Jackson Myrick, an eighth grader, shut out the Royals in the first half and gave up just one goal on the night. The Knights are scheduled to play Campus School of Murfreesboro on Monday, although expected inclement weather may result in postponement. The next scheduled conference game will be Tuesday, March 21st against Hendersonville Christian at Smyrna Middle School.

MS BBALL TEAM WINS 1ST ANNUAL KNIGHTS CLASSIC

February 25- The LCA middle school basketball team ended their season as champions, defeating the LaVergne Hornets 40-26 in the first annual Knights Classic championship game. On Friday night, the Knights beat the LaVergne Celtics to advance to the title game. Gabe Brewer led the Knights to the tourney trophy with 26 points in Saturday's win. Brewer, along with Brandon Manning, were named to the All-Tournament team. Other members of the All-Tournament team are: Webster Gilcrease and Antonio Massi (Celtics), Christian Kacar and Jordan Craig (Aaron Academy), and Tray Woodley and Mike Steele (Hornets). Brewer was awarded the Tournament MVP award. The Knights conclude their first season with an outstanding record of 18-8.

KNIGHTS LOSE 44-42 HEARTBREAKER IN TVAC TOURNEY

February 25- LCA ended their inaugural season with a buzzer-beating 44-42 loss to Aaron Academy in the TVAC tourney. The Knights battled back from a nine-point deficit in the final three minutes of Saturday's game, led by seventh grader Marcus Haywood's 10 fourth quarter points. With the game tied at 42, LCA turned the ball over with less than five seconds to play, allowing Aaron Academy to throw the ball the length of the floor for a game-winning layup. Haywood led LCA with 14 points. Eighth grader Gabe Brewer added 10 points, and Cody Guynn scored 9 points for the Knights. Micah Boerger added 20 rebounds in the loss. The Knights finished the season with a record of 5-19.

KNIGHTS OPEN TVAC TOURNEY AT WHITE HOUSE CHR.

February 18- The varsity boys' basketball team will travel to Madison this Tuesday to play White House Christian Academy in the first round of the TVAC tourney. Earlier this season, the Eagles edged the Knights 45-35 at Hooptown. "White House Christian is a solid team," commented Coach Chirch. "They have a very good scorer in Garrett Shular that we will have to work hard to stop." In the last meeting between the two teams, Gabe Brewer led the Knights with 15 points. If LCA wins Tuesday, they will play Franklin Classical on Thursday. If the Knights lose, they will play the loser of Aaron Academy/Currey Ingram on Saturday. Tuesday's game will begin at 4:30. BOERGER AND BREWER NAMED TO ALL-TVAC TEAM

February 18- The Tennessee Valley Athletic Conference has announced their all conference basketball team, a squad that includes LCA players Micah Boerger and Gabe Brewer. The two have been invited to compete in the All-TVAC all star game at Currey Ingram on February 28th as a part of the South team. The South team is made up of all stars from LCA, Franklin Classical, Holloway, Currey Ingram, Franklin Christian and Benton Hall. "This is a nice individual honor for both players," commented Coach Chirch. "It is especially exciting that Gabe was the only middle schooler named to the team in the TVAC. Hopefully, this is the start of a stellar career in this league." Boerger leads Rutherford County in rebounds and Brewer is among the top ten in the county in steals, assists, and free throw percentage.

February 11- LCA's elementary girls' basketball team won their first game of the season last weekend in the West Nashville Sports League, 20-12. The team is composed of eight 3rd-4th grade girls: Emory Bibb, Keirsten Kucker, Elizabeth Henkle, Claire Myrick, Jasmine Heathcock, Madison Meeks, Erica Henson, and Robyn Sharp. "I don't know who was more excited, the kids, coaches, or parents," said Coach Tom Bibb. "We played a much bigger team physically, but played great offense and defense and it paid off. The team has improved so much and are really learning how to play the game." The girls have two more games left this season, their first season in the WNSL.

February 18- LCA's middle school soccer team will kick off their season this Tuesday with practice at Sharp Springs park. Throughout the month of February, the team will practice from 4:00-6:00 at Sharp Springs (Jefferson Pike entrance), every Tuesday and Thursday. Parents are responsible to drop off and pick up their child from practices. COACHES WILL NOT TRANSPORT ATHLETES TO AND FROM PRACTICE! All players should dress appropriately (shorts, sweats, t-shirts, etc) and bring soccer cleats, shin guards, and a size 5 soccer ball. The uniform/participation fee of $40.00 is due this Friday. MS BOYS KNOCK OFF CIA IN GNAC TOURNEY OPENER

February 7- Led by eighth grader Gabe Brewer's 24 points, 13 rebounds, and 6 steals, the LCA middle school boys rolled past Currey Ingram 43-20 in the opening round of the GNAC tourney. Despite a slow start that resulted in a 6-4 score at the end of the first quarter, the Knights cruised throughout the rest of the game. LCA improved to 16-7 on the season and will take on Hendersonville Christian in the tourney quarterfinals on Thursday. The winner will play regular season champion Clarksville Academy in the GNAC semifinals.

KNIGHTS DROP HOME FINALE 63-51 TO CURRY INGRAM

February 6- LCA's varsity basketball team drew as close as three points to Curry Ingram on Monday, but the Knights could not overcome eight Mustang three-pointers. Eighth grader Gabe Brewer led the Knights with 15 points and rebounds. Junior Brandon Lancaster added 10 points (two three-pointers)and seven steals, while senior Micah Boerger posted 11 points and 13 rebounds. The Knights are scheduled to travel to Franklin Christian on Valentine's Day and then are expected to meet Curry-Ingram again in the first round of the TVAC tournament in two weeks.

"The domain name is much easier to remember than our previous address and it should be an advantage when we start to advertise the programs on a large scale," commented Derek Chirch, AD. The department hopes to run an athletics commercial and utilize a billboard within the next year---both of which will include the new domain name. SECOND HALF RALLY CANNOT SAVE KNIGHTS

February 4- LCA's varsity basketball team battled back from a 13-point deficit to pull the game within three points, but could not overcome visiting United Christian Academy in a 36-31 loss on Saturday. "We did a much better job defensively in the second half, holding them to 12 points," commented Coach Chirch. "However, we struggled offensively with our top four scorers in early foul trouble." Micah Boerger, Gabe Brewer, and Corey Whittington all picked up three first half fouls that sidelined them for much of the second quarter. Boerger led the Knights with 8 points and 9 rebounds. Brewer and freshman Cody Guynn combined for four three pointers in the loss. The Knights will host Currey-Ingram this Monday in what is likely to be a preview of the first round TVAC tournament.

KNIGHTS FALL TO AARON ACADEMY; MS WINS AGAIN

February 3- Cold-shooting by LCA and a 15-9 run by Aaron Academy in the third quarter doomed the Knights in Friday's 52-34 loss. The Knights managed only 16 points in the first half. "We didn't swing the ball enough against their zone to get good scoring opportunities," explained Coach Chirch. "When we did have a good look, we just couldn't knock shots down." Micah Boerger led the Knights with 11 points and 19 rebounds. Boerger now leads Rutherford County in rebounds per game with 11.2 rpg. Eighth grader Gabe Brewer added 7 points in the loss. In the opening game, the middle school defeated Aaron Academy going away, improving their record to 15-7 on the season. The middle school will host Currey-Ingram in the first round of the GNAC tourney on Tuesday. The varsity will be back in action tonight against United Christian Academy.

BOERGER'S 30 PTS NOT ENOUGH IN 61-78 LOSS

January 30- Senior Micah Boerger's record high 30 points, 23 rebounds, and 9 blocks were not enough to carry LCA past Christian Community School on Monday. The Lions 33 point second quarter led them to a 29 point lead over the Knights at halftime. LCA valiantly cut the lead to 16 points in the second half, but eventually ran out of time in the 78-61 loss. "They shot extremely well in the first half and our 23 first half turnovers absolutely killed us," said Coach Chirch. Junior Brandon Lancaster added 13 points for the Knights. LCA will be at home on Friday and Saturday to take on Aaron Academy and United Christian Academy.

January 29- The LCA booster club will meet this Thursday at 6:00 in the school cafeteria to discuss upcoming fundraisers and the progress of financing for the new gymnasium. BOERGER LEADS KNIGHTS TO HOMECOMING VICTORY

January 28- LCA's first homecoming game was a huge success Saturday as the Knights defeated Highland Rim Christian 67-20. Senior Micah Boerger scored a season-high 24 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in a dominating performance. Freshmen Cody Guynn and Corey Whittington added 12 and 10 points respectively in the win. The victory was the 4th straight for the Knights, following a 71-34 win over Benton Hall on Friday night. Boerger, Guynn, Whittington and Brandon Lancaster all scored double digit points in Friday's victory. The Knights will try to keep their winning streak alive as they travel to Christian Community this Monday. LCA will host Aaron Academy and United Christian Academy this weekend.

KNIGHTS WIN 2ND STRAIGHT, BEAT BENTON BALL 60-21

January 23- LCA won back-to-back games for the first time this season, defeating Benton Hall 60-21 in Brentwood. The Knights jumped out to an 18-3 lead at the end of the first quarter and did not look back. Freshman Corey Whittington led the Knights with 12 points. Senior Micah Boerger added 11 points along with 10 rebounds. 7th grader Ian Knight made his varsity debut and scored 10 points---including two three pointers. The Knights will travel back to Brentwood this Friday to play Benton Hall for the second time this season. In the middle school game, Knight had a big game for LCA, scoring 18 points in a 62-12 victory. The middle school team improved to 11-5 on the season with the win.

HIGHLAND RIM VISITS LCA FOR INAUGURAL HOMECOMING

January 23- LCA will host its first ever Homecoming game and dance this Saturday, January 28th. The Knights will take on Highland Rim Christian Academy at HOOPTOWN in Smyrna beginning at 3:00. At halftime of the middle school game, the homecoming king and queen will be announced. Candidates were chosen on the basis of Christian character, school involvement, academic success, and school spirit. The candidates chosen are: Thomas Hall, Olivia Musgrove, Marcus Haywood, Brianna Bromley, Katrina Mazza, Benjamin Bledsoe, Brandon Lancaster, Shane Morgan, Austin Niravong, Ryan Eliot, Chelsea Weeks, Britney Layton, Jennifer Donahue, and Taylor Davis. January 20- The LCA middle school boys basketball have continued their successful season into January, improving to 10-5 overall and second place in the Greater Nashville Athletic Conference. The Knights have posted big conference wins over Radnor Baptist, Aaron Academy, and Currey-Ingram. Eighth grader Gabe Brewer has eld the Knights, averaging over 20 points per game. December 8, 2005- The LCA middle school boys basketball team improved their record to 2-2 with a solid road win at Radnor Baptist on Thursday. 8th grader Gabe Brewer paced the Knights with a game-high 22 points, along with 7 rebounds. Brewer is averaging 24.5 points per game. Fellow eighth grader Alex Guevara added a career-high 15 rebounds in the win. Ian Knight, 7th grader, scored 5 points. KNIGHT BOYS CC SWEEPS AT WHITE HOUSE CHRISTIAN

October 10, 2005- The LCA middle school boys' cross country team maintained their undefeated GNAC record on Monday, sweeping White House Christian, Bowling Green Christian and Currey-Ingram Academy with a perfect score of 15. Ian Knight took first with a time of 9:14, his fourth top finish of the season. LCA swept spots 2-6 to bring home the perfect score. In the girls race, Brianna Bromley took first, but it wasn't enough to overcome a strong Currey-Ingram team. In the varsity race, Brandon Lancaster narrowly defeated teammate Kevin Dobson for the top spot with a time of 19:17 (new school record.) LCA improved to 16-4 overall on the season.

CROSS COUNTRY MEET OPEN TO K-5TH STUDENTS

October 3, 2005- On Saturday October 22, the Knight middle school cross country teams will travel to Brentwood to compete in the GNAC championships. As part of a full day of races, Currey-Ingram---the host school---has opened several age-divided races to Lancaster students. Prior to the GNAC championship race, races for K-2nd grade boys and girls (.5 miles), 3rd-4th grade boys and girls (.75 miles), and 5th-6th grade boys and girls (1 mile) will be held. The first race will begin at 9:00 a.m. Following fall break, an interest form will be sent home with all LCA students. October 2, 2005- LCA is proud to announce the addition of three new sports---volleyball, soccer, and tennis---to its growing athletic department. LCA CC COMPETES AT MILTON INVITE; BOYS TAKE 5TH

September 24, 2005- The LCA middle school boys' cross country team continued to make a name for themselves on Saturday, finishing 5th in a field of 21 teams in the Milton Invitational. The field included teams from the following schools: Central Middle, Hampshire, Currey Ingram, Siegel, David Lipscomb, Rock Springs, Doss-Knox, St. Rose, Christiana, Tullahoma, College Heights, Rockvale, and Greenbrier. The boys scored a total of 187 points and were narrowly edged for fourth place by last year's champion, McFadden. Ian Knight (13th), Devon Lancaster (28th), and Tyler Reeves (30th) all medaled to lead the Knights. The girls' team did not compete in the team competition, but Brianna Bromley did earn a medal with a 30th place finish.

KNIGHTS CC CONTINUES WINNING WAYS

September 19, 2005- All three Knight cross country teams took first place for the second week in a row on Monday, sweeping conference foes White House Christian Academy and Sumner Academy at Sharp Springs Park. 7th graders Ian Knight and Brianna Bromley, along with junior Brandon Lancaster, took first place in their races to power the Knights to their fourth consecutive win.

The middle school boys team improved to 5-1 on the season, while the girls upped their record to 4-2 for the year. The middle school teams will travel to Milton this Saturday to compete in the Central Middle School Invitational. The varsity boys' record stands at 2-0 on the year, and they will compete at the Ezell-Harding 5k on October 1 in their next race. KNIGHTS CC MAKES HISTORY AT SHARP SPRINGS

September 12, 2005- Monday was a historic day for Knights athletics, as the middle school boys' and girls' and varsity boys' cross country teams won their meets against conference foes White House Christian and Sumner Academy, the first team victories in the history of the school. "We're thrilled with the early success we're having as a first year athletic program," commented AD and assistant CC coach, Derek Chirch. "The first win can be tough to get, so we're pleased to pick up a victory this early in the season." September 10, 2005- In a year of firsts for the athletic department, the first cheerleading team in the school's history has been chosen. The team is coached by Mrs. Morgan, a former college cheerleader. Seven girls made the team: 9th grader Jennifer Donahue, 11th grader Britany Layton, 9th grader Hannah Perkins, 7th grader Amber Lamb, 7th grader Ashley Ross, 6th grader Renee Guevara, and 6th grader Hannah Weeks. During the cheerleading tryouts, each girl was scored by a panel of three judges on the following: voice and enthusiasm, basic jumps, and individual cheers. September 7, 2005- In this Wednesday's Rutherford Courier , the Knight athletic program is featured on the front page of the sports section. The lead article---written by Doug Davis---highlights the tremendous growth of Lancaster Christian Academy this fall and the role that sports have played in that growth. "I think its great publicity to show people how serious we are about our sports program," said junior Brandon Lancaster. KNIGHTS HOST FIRST MEET; BOYS FINISH 2ND TO CMS

September 6, 2005- The Knight cross country team hosted their first meet of this season on Tuesday, welcoming Central Middle School (Murfreesboro) and Currey-Ingram Academy (Brentwood) to Smyrna. "This was a great event for our program," stated Coach Chirch. "We're thankful to the schools who attended for their help in making this a successful night." In the boys' race, Central Middle---the state's third place team in 2004---finished first as a team, led by Brendan Duke's 9:08. LCA's Ian Knight finished 4th overall and led the Knights to a convincing victory over Currey Ingram, 53-122. In the girl's race, defending Mid-State champ Central was dominant, sweeping the top five spots. LCA 7th grader Brianna Bromley paced the Knights with a 7th place finish, but the girls were narrowly defeated by Currey-Ingram, 134-136. August 27, 2005- Junior Brandon Lancaster and 7th grader Ian Knight posted identical 20:25 times at the Rutherford County High School Challenge Saturday, leading the Knights in their first official meet in school history. The time of 20:25 is the new Lancaster 5k record. Teams represented in the field included LaVergne, Blackmon, Siegel, and Middle Tennessee Christian among others.

LANCASTER JOINS TENNESSEE VALLEY CONFERENCE

April 12, 2005- Lancaster Christian Academy has accepted an invitation to join the newly formed Tennessee Valley Athletic Conference to begin play during the 2005-2006 school year. The conference is composed of 12 low enrollment schools from the Middle Tennessee area: Currey Ingram Academy, Benton Hall Academy, Franklin Classical School, Franklin Christian School, Nashville Christian Advancement Academy, Radnor Baptist Academy, Community Christian School,White House Christian, Holloway High School, Aaron Academy, Madison Nazarene, and LCA. Basketball will be the flagship sport of the conference, with all twelve schools entering a varsity boys team into league play. The TVAC is currently in the process of organizing the league seasons for several other team sports, of which LCA will compete in cross country, tennis, and possibly soccer.

KNIGHTS EXCEL AT SHARP SPRINGS 5K

April 9, 2005- Powered by first place finishes from sixth graders Ian Knight and Brianna Bromley, the LCA cross country team put forth an extremely solid showing at the Sharp Springs 5k on Saturday. Knight finished the 3.2 mile race in 21:18, a personal best that was good enough to win the 13 and under boys division. Bromley's performance was equally impressive, finishing in under 25:00, also a personal record. Seventh grader Summer Austin surprised with a second place finish in the girls 14 and over division. Every LCA runner recorded their fastest time since beginning practices two months ago. Particularly noteworthy were sophomore Jason Pope and seventh grader Kelly Powell, both who cut their times by over 15:00 from their initial run in February.

April 8, 2005- In honor of the Knight cross country team pariticipating in the Smyrna Lions Sharp Springs 5k---the first athletic event in school history---LCA students and faculty held a pep rally on Friday afternoon. The 30 minute event included class competition, a cheer by the 4th grade, player introductions, and a pep talk from Coach Greene. Prior to the pep rally, eighth graders Jennifer Donahue and Lorin Sands as well as 6th graders Kelsey Morgan and Marcela Hidalgo decorated the school hallways in blue and white. TENNESSEAN FEATURES KNIGHT ATHLETICS

March 31, 2005- The formation of Lancaster Christian Academy Athletics was recently featured in The Tennessean sports section. KNIGHT TENNIS PRACTICES PUT ON HOLD

March 1, 2005- Lancaster Christian Academy tennis practices have been put on hold for the time being, as cross country and basketball practices are taking precedence. The athletic department will plan a school-year practice schedule in the near future and release it during the early spring months. Tennis players are encouraged to see Coach Chirch to discuss offseason training and tournaments.
