| Frequently Asked Questions
What is a typical day like for my child at the ELC?
A typical day at Lancaster ELC depends on the age of the child. When touring the ELC, one would notice the daily schedule
outside each classroom. Each day generally includes: morning welcome, morning snack, Bible, learning activities, prayer
time, outside play, lunch, rest time, afternoon snack, and afternoon activities that enhance the daily routine. We are sure
that your child will experience a well-balanced day of learning activities, play, and rest.
Who will be at the ELC each day?
A number of people are consistently on site each day to meet the needs of each child who attends the ELC. The management
team is on site daily to communicate with parents, ensure that the environment meets all state requirements, supervise
children during activities, including meal time, and provide a safe, nurturing environment for your child. The entire staff
is trained to continuously strive for the highest possible standards.
What is the staff to children ratio?
The ratio of staff to children is age specific and is outlined below. The ELC also utilizes assistant teachers in the
classroom to help the "lead" teacher with certain activities which further lowers this ratio at many times during
the day.
*Infants - 1 to 4
*Toddlers - 1 to 6
*Two Year Old - 1 to 7
*Three Year Old - 1 to 9
*Four Year Old - 1 to 13
*Five Year Old - 1 to 15
What type of background do the teachers at the ELC have?
The ELC administers a strict policy when hiring staff members. When hiring a new staff member, work related references
and personal references are checked. Each potential employee also summits to a full criminal background check. The ELC
requires all of its staff members to complete continuing education courses in the field of early childhood education.
Lead teachers in each classroom have experience in the field of childcare and are passionate about positively impacting
each childs life. Every employee is a born again Christian who loves the Lord. Each employee understands the role at
Lancaster is to show Christs love through their daily actions and lead the children to the Lord.
What are the ELCs safety measures?
The ELC is concerned about providing a safe, nurturing environment for each child. Our concern for each childs safety
is evident in the design of our building, which includes a locked front door, with code access, closed circuit TV for
parent and administration monitoring, secure exits, and a protective fencing system enclosing the playground. Our
state-of-the-art building also includes a fire alarm system and a security system. To help ensure our childrens safety
comes first, the ELC performs monthly fire drills. Our locked front door is only opened from the inside, by an ELC staff
member or by a parents pin number. When visitors enter our building, they are accompanied by an ELC staff member the
entire time they are on campus.
What kind of curriculum do you use?
Our age-appropriate curriculum is called A-Beka. A-Beka is a Christian curriculum with an educationally sound and proven
program. We also use the Bright Beginnings Curriculum to engage children in learning about the Bible in an age-appropriate
manner.
