KINGS ACADEMY LIONS ROAR IN OPENING VICTORY OVER HANCOCK COUNTY
August 25- After being on the receiving end of too many blowouts, Kings Academy’s Larry Watson turned in a classy coaching effort by calling off the Lions late in a 39-12 win over the Hancock County Indians. The lopsided score could have been much worse, as Watson substituted liberally and allowed his backup quarterbacks to gain much-needed experience. “The Hancock team was pretty big and physical,” Watson told the Times, “and we had some big breaks.” RB William Lakatosh led the Lions offense with 169 yards on the ground and 4 touchdowns. touchdown. “It was close for a long time there and we just came out with some fortunate plays. Some of our guys who hadn’t been playing got in there and and made plays, and that’s what needs to happen,” Watson said. “We were able to play a lot of guys tonight, and Hancock County is a class act,” Watson said of the Lions’ opponent, “and I look forward to maybe a rivalry.” The Lions are idle next Friday before facing 2-A opponent North Greene away on September 7. “That’s going to be a battle,” Watson said.
