KNIGHTS CAPTURE MSFC LEAD, DOWN RIVERSIDE 40-14

September 21- The Lancaster Christian Academy football team took sole possession of the Mid-South Football Conference lead on Friday, defeating Riverside Christian Academy 40-14. The Knights improved to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the MSFC.

        Junior Justin Potts had another monster night, piling up 257 yards and 4 touchdowns on 18 carries. His big night propelled him well into the MSFC rushing and scoring lead for the season. Potts now has 717 yards and 9 touchdowns on the season. 8th grader Dominique Bell added two catches for 55 yards and 1 touchdown. Junior Cody Guynn added another touchdown, his fourth on the season. Defensively, Caleb Ingram racked up 14 tackles and 2 sacks for the game.

        The Knights will host Red Boiling Springs High School this Friday night in LCA's first-ever football Homecoming celebration. RBSHS comes in at 0-4 on the season. Game time is at 7:00 with Homecoming festivities taking place at halftime.

Eighth grader Dominique Bell scored his second touchdown of the season.



KNIGHTS SLOPPY, BUT VICTORIOUS OVER PICKETT COUNTY IN MSFC OPENER

September 7- Despite seven turnovers and multiple penalties, the LCA football team was able to overcome conference foe Pickett County 33-6 on Friday. With the win, Lancaster improves to 2-1 and 1-0 in the Mid-South Football Conference.

        Junior Justin Potts keyed the powerful Knights' rushing attack, piling up 210 yards and 2 touchdowns. Potts leads the conference in touchdowns and is second in rushing yards to teammate Cody Guynn, who added 82 yards of his own against Pickett County. LCA totaled 320 yards on the ground in Friday's victory. Defensively, sophomore Gabe Brewer starred for the Knights with 2 interceptions and 6 tackles.

        LCA will be at home again this Friday, taking on non-conference opponent David Brainerd Christian School. DBCS is 1-2 and is coming off a 44-14 loss to Lookout Valley. Game time is at 7:00 at Veteran's Memorial Park.

KNIGHTS DROP ROAD OPENER TO FIRST ASSEMBLY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL

September 1- Five turnovers, poor tackling and a disastrous trip to Cordova all played a part in Lancaster Christian's 54-12 loss to First Assembly Christian School on Friday night.

        The Knights fumbled the opening kickoff, a sign of things to come in a nightmare first quarter that ended with FACS holding a 40-0 lead. At the half, Lancaster trailed 54-0 with four touchdowns coming off Knights' turnovers. In the second half of play, LCA came to life and held FACS to 0 yards of total offense while outscoring the Crusaders 12-0. Senior Matt Rofrano, seeing his first action after coming off an ankle injury, carried the ball 7 times for 48 yards and a touchdown. Cody Guynn added 47 yards, while Justin Potts scored a touchdown as time expired.

        The Knights will open Mid-South Football Conference play this weekend, hosting Pickett County High School in LaVergne. PCHS is 1-1, coming off a narrow 20-14 victory over Red Boiling Springs. Game time is set for 7:00 and admission is $6.00.

KNIGHTS CRUISE IN SEASON OPENER, DEFEAT MT. JULIET CHRISTIAN 46-14

August 25- The LCA football team opened its season in dominant fashion on Saturday night, pounding Mt. Juliet Christian Academy 46-14.

        The ground game was effective early and often, as the Knights racked up 379 rushing yards on the night and jumped out to quick 28-0 lead. Junior Cody Guynn carried the ball 17 times, picking up an impressive 202 yards and 2 touchdowns. Junior Justin Potts added 96 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Tyler Reeves and Michael Carlson also found the endzone for LCA. Lancaster threw just one pass on the night, a 24 yard scoring strike from Gabe Brewer to Caleb Ingram.

        On the defensive side of the ball, LCA capitalized on MJCA mistakes and picked off three passes and recovered a fumble. Stephen Dye, Dominique Bell, and Reeves all picked up interceptions for LCA. Ingram led the defense with 2 sacks and 7 tackles. The Knights will travel to First Assembly Christian School this Friday as they try to improve their record to 2-0 on the season.

KNIGHTS' DEFENSE WASHES AWAY SCOTTSBORO CHRISTIAN IN OPENER, 20-0

May 4- Lancaster Christian's football team exploded on to the scene in dominant fashion on Friday night, trouncing Scottsboro Christian Academy 20-0 in LCA's first-ever football game.

        "I knew you could do it," head Coach Ray Greene told his players after the game. "You've proven to yourselves that you are a good football team and you're only going to get better next fall."

        The Knights defense stifled Scottsboro from the opening kick, holding them to less than 50 yards of total offense. Freshman Alex Warnatzch recovered a fumble and recorded a sack, while 8th grader Nathan Peterson sealed the victory with a late interception. Sophomore Caleb Ingram led the team in tackles on the night.

        On the offensive side of the ball, LCA pounded SCA on the ground, running the ball the majority of the night. With a steady rain falling all night, the Knights took advantage of the conditions and held the ball and ran the clock for much of the game. Freshman Tyler Reeves led the Knights in rushing, and Warnatzch and 8th grader Patrick Anders added touchdowns. Freshman quarterback Gabe Brewer put an exclamation point on the game with a 45 yard touchdown pass to Ingram to make the score 20-0.

        The Knights will begin lifting weights in two weeks and will resume practice in July. LCA opens with Mt. Juliet Christian Academy on August 25 at Veteran's Park in LaVergne.

KNIGHTS PREPARE FOR SCOTTSBORO CHRISTIAN, UPCOMING SEASON

April 4- In full-pads and thirty players strong, the Lancaster football team began spring practice last week at Stonebrook Church in Smyrna. The Knights will put in another full month of practice before squaring off with Scottsboro Christian Academy (AL) on May 4 in the school's first ever football game.

"We are really excited to see this program ready to take the field," commented athletic director Derek Chirch. "Football has been in the planning stages for two years and it is great to see it coming to fruition at LCA."

The scrimmage with Scottsboro Christian will take place at Veteran's Park in LaVergne and will begin at 7:00. Several activities including a pep rally and tailgating are also planned for that afternoon. Tickets will be on sale next week and are $6.00. The football team will also be selling Inaugural Game t-shirts for $15.00 that will also serve as an admission ticket to the game.
