KNIGHTS DROP HEARTBREAKER IN MCA TOURNEY FINAL

Madison, TN- Despite a season-high 33 points from Gabe Brewer, LCA dropped the championship game of the Metro Christian holiday tournament to Memphis Home Education, 77-75. The Knights knocked off Tri-Cities Christian and host Metro Christian in route to the title game. MHE won the 5a national homeschool championship in 2007 and came into the MCA tournament ranked #7 in the nation. Led by Brewer's scoring outburst and a career-high 21 points from C.D. Perry, LCA held a two point lead in the last minute of the game before falling just short in the waning seconds. "We knocked off the TAACS State Champion 2A- Metro Christian by 20 points then took a top 20 homeschool program to the end of the game," said head coach Todd O'Neal. "I am very proud of our guys." The Knights dropped to 5-1 on the season and will visit Holloway this Tuesday in MTAC action.

Defense dominates in Mid South Conference opener

Sept 5, 2008 - LCA defeated Pickett County 38-0 at home on Friday night.  The defense held Pickett County to -16 yards total offense.  LCA also picked up their first shutout during a regular season game.  The Knights jumped out to a quick 14-0 first quarter lead and added two more scores before the half.  Coach Greene commented "Our guys responded to the challenge we gave them earlier in the week of starting fast".  The game was played in a steady down pour that made it difficult for both offenses to move the ball.  The Knights are 3-0 and will travel to Chattanooga on Friday, Sept 12th to take on David Brainerd Christian Academy.

Knights improve to 2-0 with fourth quarter surge

Aug 29, 2008 - Since the program's inception two years ago, Lancaster Christian has never come back in the fourth quarter to win a ball game.  That all changed Friday night against Faith Covenant Christian Academy.  From the first snap of the game it was easy to see that FCCA was more athletic at almost every position than LCA.  However, LCA proved to be the tougher team throughout the four quarters.  Justin Gosnell opened the scoring for the Knights with a 30 yard field goal.  Later in the first half LCA attempted another field goal that was blocked and returned for FCCA's only touchdown.  LCA held the Eagles on four downs in the fourth quarter and took possession around mid-field.  The Knights drove the ball down to the twenty-two yard line.  On second and seven the Knights ran a half back pass to the Eagles one yard line.  The Knights pushed it into the end zone and missed the two point conversion.  The final score of the game was 9-8.

Knights explode in second half to take down MJCA 48-19 in opener

Aug 22, 2008 Football - LCA looked poised for a big first half as Junior Cody Gwynn intercepted Mount Juliet on their first play of the game.  However, the Knights went three and out on their first drive.  LCA held Mount Juliet in check on defense and then Stephen Dye rumbled 78 yards to open the scoring for the Knights.  LCA opened up a 13-0 lead in the second quarter.  That lead didn't last very long as the MJCA Saints came back to score making it 13-13 before LCA scored again before the half making it 19-13 at half time.  In the second half LCA began to chew up big chunks of yardage on the ground.  LCA scored four touchdowns in the second half to win 48-19.  LCA had a school record 518 yards rushing in the game.

The Knights host Faith Covenant Christian Academy from Huntsville, Alabama on Friday, August 29th.  This game is the home opener for LCA and kickoff will be at 7:00 at Smyrna Middle School.

Knights fall short in a tight game at Zion Christian Academy

Aug 15, 2008 Football - As with our other two scrimmages this year, (Nashville Christian and last Friday night vs Zion) we couldn't seal the deal.  We had the lead late in the game thanks to a nice drive which started at our own 35 yard line.  With about a minute left in the game Stephen Dye scored on a 19 yard scamper that put us up 27-21.   We did not execute the PAT and we left Zion with a little too much time.  They scored quickly on a deep pass and made the point after to retake the lead 28-27.  We saw a lot of positives tonight and I'm sure we'll see even more once we look at the film.  We had very few penalties tonight and only one turnover.  Our #2 guys got some valuable playing time tonight during halftime.  They scored twice and shut out Zion's second unit.   Again, my hat is off to Zion and their coaching staff.  They do a great job executing their scheme and they are well coached.  We wish them the very best in their season. Please invite friends and family and come out next Friday night at Mount Juliet Christian Academy @ 7:00 to support the Knights in our season opener.
God Bless,
Coach Greene

WE ARE PROUD OF OUR TEAMS EFFORT FRIDAY NIGHT AGAINST ZION

Aug 8, 2008 Football - Our kids had a very good off season. They worked very hard in the weight room and in camp. We were proud of their effort last Friday night against Zion. Unfortunately we made some pretty big mistakes in terms of penalties and turnovers. Zion is a very good football team that is well coached. You cannot give any ground to them relative to costly penalties and turnovers or you will lose. My hat is off to them and their coaches, they are fine football team and program. We also saw some very positive things from our kids that bode well for the upcoming season. A lot of players got into the game and that's always a plus. We will get back to work on Monday and correct our mistakes. I think this team could be pretty good if we continue to work hard and stay healthy of course.
