2009-2010 Football Season

Fun Game For Defenses And Ducks

Oct 30, 2009 - The game with Zion in Columbia was fitting for waders and canoes.   Defenses love this kind of wet sloppy weather and offenses try to endure.

Such was the case for the Knights on Friday night in a 7-0 loss.   The rain never seemed to let up and it was coming sideways for most of the contest.

The Knights held their own against Zion, a playoff team, and learned what it will take in the off-season to beat these types of opponents.

A special thanks to the LCA fans that endured the trip and weather with the team.   Your presence was felt.

Thanks to our Senior class.   You are a part of the building blocks of this team and program and you'll not be forgotten!

A Victorious Night In More Ways Than One

Oct 23, 2009 - The Knights came out on top 25-6 Friday night against the Tigers of Taft Youth Center.

It was great for LCA to get back in the win column, and all the players were happy to earn a win on homecoming.

The defense did a good job of creating turnovers and displaying a "bend but don't break" attitude.   The offense created some big plays with touch down throws from Dominque Bell to Casey Stanley and Matt Martin.   Elliot Medlin added 2 TD's with hard charging runs.

The highlight of the night however came from the fans.   There was an out pouring of people that turned out to support both teams.   Taft does not have a following, and their stands were almost as full with supporters as LCA's side.   In a special moment the fans poured onto the field for both teams to create a human tunnel.   At the end of the tunnel the cheerleaders made a banner for both teams to run through.

We all thank everyone that participated to make this night very special.

Senior players were recognized before the game

Knights battle hard, but come up short against Ezell Harding

Oct 16, 2009 - The Knights showed tremendous effort and improvement in the contest with Ezell.

The boys from LCA proved that they are up to the test and challenge of competing with TSSAA foes with established programs.

To a player it was felt that the team let this one slip away from mistakes like turnovers and off-sides penalties on offense.

When the team irons out the mistakes it will be a force to be reckoned with in the State.

A player of note that did outstanding was Stephen Dye. He recovered 2 fumbles and caused a safety.

Knights Suffer Another Loss At Home To Davidson Academy

Oct 9, 2009 - The Team came out with the fight of their lives and a great effort.

Even though the team came out on the short end their effort was tremendous.

The Knights have been facing great competition and it's helping to build a great program.

Knights Tee It Up Against One Of The Best In The State

Oct 2, 2009 - Our Knights had the opportunity to measure up themselves against the 4th rated team in the entire East Tennessee area (all classes) Friday night.

Webb is currently ranked above state powers like Maryville and Oak Ridge.

In the face of great competition our Knights stepped up with their best physical efforts, but several mental miscues and mistakes countered that effort.

Defensively, our boys pursued well and chased the ball all over the field.  Several errors were made in the punting game, but these can and will be fixed.  Offensively we will work toward the goal of working as a full team of eleven to work the ball into the end-zone.

The team is looking forward to getting back on the field against another state power in Davidson Academy.  They have won the state championship three out of the past four years.

Knights Take One On The Chin In A Positive Learning Experience

Sept 25, 2009 - The team stepped up in TSSAA competition Friday night and came away with what could be called a reality check.  FRA showed its muscle and execution in taking it to the Knights.

What could be learned in a loss?  To compete on every play, to prepare in practice, and to never give up until the final whistle blows.   Defensively the Knights learned that they must wrap up ball carriers and swarm in pursuit to the ball.   Offensively the team learned that they must sustain blocks and execute in practice the way they expect to execute in a game.

The kicking game was solid with Jared Davis and the punt team really coming through to make good field position for the defense.  Chris Guttirez was deemed by the coaches as the player of the night for his relentless hearty and hustle.

The team will have to take these lessons and apply them to the upcoming game against Webb.

Knights Get Back On Track With Decisive Win

Sept 18, 2009 - The Knights left little doubt in the outcome of the contest Friday night.   Rolling up 30 points in the first half to the Saints 0 put the game away at the break.   The entire games effort was team wide with scores coming from both offense and defense.

Both Dominique Bell and Dalton Ford returned interceptions for touchdowns defensively, and Foster Ferrell came close to returning another.   Big plays were the name of the game on offense with long touchdown strikes to Nathan Peterson and Matt Martin from Dominique Bell.

The offensive line bored open huge holes for Elliot Medlin and Stephen Dye to run through as they both scored untouched from forty plus yards out.

The Knights will have to capitalize on the confidence they gained to play FRA this coming Friday night.

LCA has a disappointing loss to Chattanooga's East Hamilton

Sept 11, 2009 - The knights ran out of gas Friday night in a loss to East Hamilton.  The team did have its chances to stay in the game in the fourth quarter, but interception opportunities were out of reach by mere fingertips.  Also lost was good field position.

The opponent was up to the task. No matter how hard the Knights played, the advantage of making big plays was taken by the Hurricanes.

The Knights were able to secure at least one turnover.  All of the Knights played hard giving it their all allowing key plays to be successful by Perez, Peterson, and Dye.

The Knights will be working harder than ever to tighten up their abilities as they focus on facing Mt. Juliet Christian Academy this Friday.

LCA Wins First '09 Season Game 40-19 Over King's Acdmy.

Aug 21, 2009 - As is with any opening night game you take the good with the bad, as long as the GOOD is a Victory.   The Knights were proud to get one in the Win column Friday night.   The bad?   A lot of mistakes.   It's always easier to correct those mistakes after a solid outcome though.

Before the knights "tee" it up again many football related matters must be improved on.   King's Academy was able to return a kick for a touchdown, the Lion's offense was able to effectively pass the football, and our offense turned the ball over three times.

Fortunately, all of these matters can be corrected.   The Knights showed tremendous enthusiasm in making several big plays in all facets of the game.   The Defense showed an early "bend-but-don't break" attitude, the offensive line exploded huge holes for Elliot Medlin to score four touch downs, and Matt Martin had a tremendous punt return in the special teams department.   Look for the Knights to keep on improving over the next several weeks.

LCA 41 - 0 Over Frank Classical School Opening Scrimmage

Aug 14, 2009 - In what could be determined a "tune-up" for the regular season the Knights took on the visiting Knights from Franklin Classical.   As the name suggests our opponents did exhibit a ton of "class".   Both teams looked to be evenly matched early, but with a tremendous defensive effort LCA was able to continually give the offense great field position.   It was a total team effort turned in by your Knights.   It is the hope of the team that the scrimmage can be a spring board to a great season!
